First "sensibilisation" in local villages

Following the transfer of management of the Rabondro reserve to Fandroakando, it was important for Fandroakando to visit the villages surrounding the reserve, and explain the implications of the land being environmental protected. "Sensibilisation" means a community meeting, and the 8 villages surrounding Rabondro were visited over 8 days.

Director, Claret, assistant Laza, and the regional Chief of the Forest, Aurelien Raberiaka, were accompanied by 8 people from the local VOI (village associations) to explain the new rules, and the penalties for not obeying the rules. The VOI representatives are known and respected by the community, and their cooperation in the "sensibilisation" meetings was crucial to their ongoing partnership in conservation.

Following the presentation, the communities were able to ask questions, and provide input on what economic benefits would help their community.
