Fidelis has been a Malagasy leader in conservation for 30 years, almost exclusively in the terrestrial and marine protected areas of eastern Madagascar, from Port Dauphin to Antongil Bay. He is currently with Madagascar National Parks, serving as the Park Director for Masoala and Nosy Mangabe National Park since 2020. Prior to Masoala, he was Park Director for the Mananara Nord Biosphere Reserve for 6 years, Park Director for Andohahela National Park for 6 years, Director at Ambatovaky Special Reserve for 3 years, and Director of the Betampona Integral Nature Reserve for 11 years. His work in Andohahela and Ambatovaky resulted in the obtaining of decrees modifying the boundaries and the establishment of protection zones of these two protected areas.
Fidelis has a Higher Technician Diploma in Forestry. After graduation, he worked with the Madagascar Fauna Group NGO as a Research Assistant on the Project of repatriation of Varecia variegata (black-and-white ruffed lemurs) from Duke University in the United States to the Betampona protected area near Toamasina.
During his professional career in the management of 5 protected areas, Fidelis has developed various reference documents relating to the management of protected areas such as the Development and Management Plan, Patrol Plan, Infrastructure Maintenance Plan, etc. plus experience understanding the different training themes required at the local, regional, national and even international level.
