Claudia's passion is fostering connections between people with common interests, and communicating ideas in compelling ways through multiple mediums. She has participated in numerous public speaking events, and prepares her slide presentations with vibrant imagery, animated elements and video sequences to clearly convey messages.
Her education background is in computer science, having obtained a B.Sc. in computer science, and a M.Sc. in computer graphics. For ten years she worked in the computer industry, writing software and managing a team of developers to create software for the film industry. While taking leave to raise two children, she freelanced as a web designer. At the same time, she became increasingly involved in the musical arts, writing newsletters, acting as a camp registrar, and setting up databases and processes for charitable organizations.
As an amateur musician, she is very involved in the amateur music community. As well as being a member of a community orchestra (flute & percussion) and being an active chamber musician (piano), she serves on the board of directors for a local music camp. She has led two successful fundraising campaigns in the musical arts, each raising around $250,000.
Her latest passion is creating documentaries or educational videos that will reach a generation increasingly disinterested in reading. An ardent believer in access to education for all, and that one is never too old to learn, she returned to university, and in 2021 obtained a certificate in Documentary Filmmaking.
Whether re-energizing on a canoe trip in the Canadian wilderness, or exploring new cultures and wildlife in far-off countries, Claudia and her husband focus their travels almost exclusively on nature trips. Their 2019 holiday in Madagascar was both eye-opening to the devastation caused by an exploding population in conflict with limited land resources, and exhilarating when we identified an opportunity to be involved "on the ground" in a project in land conservancy.
